Concerned citizen urges Tambawal to investigate non payment of WAEC fees

From Mohammed Salisu in Sokoto.

A Concerned Citizen, Alhaji Zayyanu Aliyu Balarabe Goronyo, has urged Sokoto State Governor , Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambawal, to urgently investigate the non payment of the 2020 WAEC registration fees, for students from the state.

Zayyanu lamented that, over two months after the release of the results by the Examination Body, candidates from the state could not access and utliize their results .

According to him, the obnoxious development was sequel to the non payment of the fees, while the results had been released since last November.

The concerned citizen expressed apprehension that, the affected students will consequently be denied the golden opportunity to secure admissions into the nation’s tertiary educational institutions.

Zayyanu also averred that, the institutions were currently conducting their admission exercises, but, the hopes of the affected candidates to gain such admissions would be regretably dashed.

” The Governor should please do the needful, as there is an ongoing alleged buck passing between the State Ministry of Finance and that of Education .

” A stitch in time, they say, saves nine. Taking urgent actions as appealed will greatly help in reducing youths restiveness, crimes and other social vices related with idleness of the youths in the country ,” Zayyanu, added.

The concerned citizen appealed to the Sultan of Sokoto-led Education Committee, State House of Assembly, NGOs and other International Organizations like UNICEF, to swiftly intervene in the matter .

According to Zayyanu, doing so will save the future of the myriad of affected students whose chances for securing the direly needed admissions into the tertiary educational institutions were now hanging in the balance .
