Arewa Consultative and Synergy Congress (ACSC), said that a recent call by the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola on zoning of the presidential ticket to the south, as a lash across the face of a hungry man, noting that since inception, the Nigeria’s 22 years democracy has never favoured the north.
In a statement signed by the National President, ACSC, Eng. Dr Harris Jibril, Friday, said the verbal zoning agreement is a blatant effrontery to the people of Arewa, as they had only a paltry of 7 years at the helm of affairs, and have had nothing to show as a dividend of democracy from the 5 years of the APC administration with northerner as a President.
“The patient and law abiding people of Arewa have always been on the receiving end of anything retrogressive when it comes to governance in Nigeria; we are the ones with the littered gutters and squalid homes, the ones bedeviled by insecurity and abject poverty, we trail pitifully in the areas of education and infrastructural development, and that’s just putting in the back-burner the activities of bandits and kidnappers that is just short of contempt to the might of the military and other security operatives.
“Fashola should recalled of his dual ministerial custody appointment on the first Presidential tenure of the Northerner which are Power, Works and Housing Ministry. Such of which the North has never witnessed under any leadership.” Said the statement
He said Arewa Consultative and Synergy Congress can’t take a precarious stand and witness the undoing of the North by the very people that benefited most by its structure, “we are not asking for justice as we have always been dealt a bad hand by it but rather reminding you of the democracy and constitutional provision.”
“We are tired of being portrayed as the oppressors while we are the victims, Arewa will continue to rule until at least the years are balance because heads are heads and none is bigger.” He added
