Jama’a Emirate Students Association (JESA), in kaduna state has trained 50 girls in catering services to enable them become self-reliant.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the first set of trainees in Kafanchan, former vice chairman of Jama’a Local Government Council, Alhaji Isiyaka Abdu Ladan said for girls and women to be trained in skill acquisition will in no small way help in shaping their future and that of the society in general.
He commended the effort of the organizers in creating the program to reduce youth restiveness and unemployment in the community through skills acquisition programmes as government alone could not provide jobs for everyone.
While speaking, the Guest Speaker, Alhaji Jamilu Ado Bala, called on the youths to wake up and learn different skills acquisition in order to survive as the world is leaning towards self reliance.
“let me use this opportunity to call on especially girls and women to be trained, equipped and empowered in different skills to make them self reliant as the so-called white collar jobs are no longer easily available.” He added
Earlier, the JESA president, Muhammad Sani Adamu (Jagaba) explained that the gesture was borne out of their desire for the development of the girl child and women.
He said they will continue to train girls, women, among other people, for societal development.
He therefore, urged the beneficiaries to use the knowledge gained to become self-employed and to also reciprocate the gesture by training other people in the society.
The Emir of Jama’a, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Isa Muhammad II who was represented by Madakin Jama’a and the District Head of Fada, Alhaji Audi Isa Muhammad commended the group for the training and called for sustenance of its programmes.
The traditional ruler who prayed to the group for the gesture, also promised to give the necessary cooperation to succeed.
The event featured presentation of certificates to the 50 trainees that were trained on how to make Cakes, Shawarma, Samosa, Meat Pie and Fruit Salad.
