FOOD, Cattle Dealers Presented Preconditions To Federal Government
The Amalgamated Union of Food and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria, AFUCDN,has presented preconditions to be met by the Federal Government to forestall the recurrence of food embargo to the South.
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and former Minister of Aviation,Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode led the leadership of the amalgamated union to a
meeting with the Chief of Staff to President Buhari in Abuja, duringwhich issues leading to the recent food blockage imposed on the South
were discussed.
Governor Bello said working with Mr. Fani-Kayode, he had been able toreach out to the major stakeholders on both sides, who had agreed toaddress the issues at stake amicably.
The most important commitment, according to him, is the pledge thatpeople from the South would stop attacking Hausa/Fulanicommunities in the South, and the agreement that criminals, irrespective of their leanings, would be handed over to law enforcement agents.
Governor Bello who emphasized that both the south and the north need one another to survive as a nation, also call for calm from both region to enhance sustainable development.
Also speaking, Mr. Fani-Kayode said but for the timely intervention,the crisis, which he described as a very complicated one, would
definitely have snowballed into a major crisis of in the country.
