The Executive Chairman of Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Hon. Muhammad Lawal Shehu, has congratulated AbdulGaffar Alabelewe on his election as the new Chairman of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna Chapter.
In a congratulatory message, Hon. Shehu described AbdulGaffar Alabelewe’s election as a well-deserved victory, considering his wealth of experience and dedication to the journalism profession.
He recalled that during his tenure as the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kaduna State between 2023 and 2024, AbdulGaffar and other Kaduna journalists helped communicate the good policies of Governor Uba Sani to the residents.
“Your election speaks volumes about the trust bestowed on you by the journalists working in Kaduna State. I want you to justify the confidence reposed in you by involving everyone in decision-making and ensuring the welfare of the press,” said the Chairman.
Hon. Shehu solicited the support of the new Kaduna NUJ executive committee to assist his administration and that of Governor Uba Sani in informing the public about the current administration’s efforts in revamping rural transformation initiatives.
“I assured the new NUJ Chairman of Soba Local Government Area’s support and cooperation in promoting journalists’ welfare and advancing journalism in our Council and the State.”
The Chairman commended the NUJ Kaduna Chapter for conducting a peaceful and transparent election, reflecting the union’s commitment to democratic principles.
Hon. Shehu expressed optimism that the Alabelewe-led Kaduna NUJ will further strengthen the union and promote journalists’ interests in Kaduna State, urging the new executive committee to ensure every journalist in Kaduna verifies facts before publication.
