Remodeling Of Clinics : We Must Ensure Quality. – _LGCA Commissioner_

Katsina State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has reiterated its commitment to ensure quality projects are being executed by local government councils across the state.

The Supervising Commissioner of the Ministry Alhaji Bishir Tanimu disclosed this in Bindawa shortly after conducting an unscheduled inspection visit to 9 clinics out of 60 that are currently being remodeled in Daura Senatorial District.

The Commissioner explained that so far 23 clinics out of 102 initially selected for the project cross the 34 LGAs of the state have been inspected.

He said the inspection mission targeted the construction work of staff quarters, wall fencing with barbed wire provision of mono pumps, solar powered lights and rehabilitation/renovation of the main clinic structure.

Alhaji Bishir Tanimu who claimed that the Inspection Team was comfortable and satisfied on the nature of the construction of Staff Quarters, stated that majority of the Contractors have done well, only a few of them built the structures with no foundation (DVC).

On the provision of equipment for the clinics, the Commissioner pointed out the State Chairman of ALGON confirmed to him that the hospital equipment have been supplied and already distributed to all the 34 LGA Secretariat of the state and ready for distribution to respective clinics that are comfortable to access the equipment.

Alhaji Bishir Tanimu having observed the fragility of the equipment that have been procured for the purpose of delivering health care services to the community, assured that the Ministry would ensure the immediate distribution to those clinics that are ready to start using it.

On the issue of building of wall fencing and renovation of roofing, pecia board, due to leaking and broken windows and doors, the Commissioner said the Inspection Team found out that 50% of clinics so far visited were in good shape, but about 30% have not done very well and 20% are in progress.

While commending the efforts of Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda for uplifting health care services across the state, the Commissioner therefore assured the Ministry’s resolve toward ensuring that the funds meant for such contract must be used judiciously.

The Clinics inspected include that of Tsagero Bagiwa, Magami, Giremawa, Bindawa, Tunas, Manomawa, Dudunni and Kafarda in Rimi, Mani, Bindawa, Ingawa and Kusada local government areas.

Other members of the Inspection Team include Permanent Secretary, DAS, Ag. DFA, Directors of Works, Inspection, AD WATSAN and the Supervising Engineer In-Charge of Daura Zone as well as the Media Team of the Ministry.
