World Youths Skills Day: Foundation to trains 500 youth on 9 digital skills, Training

Over 500  youths would receive free training on Digital skills  organized by IRIBID Foundation, a non governmental organisation as part of the activities to commemorates the 2021 UN Youths Skills Day.
The founder of the NGO, Malam Usman Machika said the training was conducted in collaboration with Microsoft Nigeria.
According to Machika, the nine different digital skills include digital literacy, problem solving, global citizenship (networking) and youth interprenuership.
Others are curiosity and love for learning, communication skills, adaptability and conductive flexibility, accessing, assessing and analyzing information, self knowledge and emotional intelligence.
He added that the programme which would be in batches,  and was aimed at empowering the beneficiaries with skills and knowledge that would add value to their lives.
” the foundation has started the training on digital litiracy; would offer seven days extensive training for the beneficiaries in five different modules of digital literacy”, Machika revealed.
He added that  microsoft would comduct the examination and issue the   beneficiaries with certificates to enable them to be among world societies.
According to him, the foundation was planing to extend the  training in nine different areas to civil servants and some retirees.
Earlier, Prof. Shehu Abdullahi, former Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria commended the foundation for the initiative.
He also enjoined the beneficiaries to pay more attention for the exercise stressing that the training was one of the ways for the youths to be self reliance.
Abdullahi called on the government and other key stakeholders to provide resources and better enabling environment to enable the Nigerian youth harness their potentials.
Similarly, Usman Mazadu, Coordinator, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Zaria Chapter noted that the World Economic Forum said 54 per cent of existing employees would require considerable reskilling and upskilling by 2022.
He added that organization across the globe have recognized the need for digital transformation to compete in the current business environment and employee upskilling and reskilling has become imperative.
If you recalls that In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared 15 July as World Youth Skills Day.
The day was aimed at celebrating  the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship.
