Sokoto Govt procures multi-million naira malaria commodities

Sokoto State Government has procured a multi-million naira large consignment if Malaria commodities, in it’s sustained bid to curb the menace of malaria in the state.

 

Our Correspondent reports that, the commodities were received by the Commissioner of Health, Dr Ali Inname, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad.

 

Inname said that, the gesture has reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal to the welfare and well being of the people of the state, especially pregnant women and children,under the age of 5 years.

 

Inname said:” The malaria commodities received include different categories for adults, children and pregnant with women doses.

 

” They also include insecticide treated nets for routing distribution, tragetting children who completed immunization and for pregnant women during Antenatal Care ( ANC).”

 

According to the Health Commissioner, the state government was fully committed to complementing the efforts of partners supporting the state in the area of malaria elimination and to demonstrate the willingness, state ownership and sustainability.

 

While lauding Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for the top.priority to the health sector.

 

Inname added:” The state of has today fulfilled it’s obligation by providing the counterpart funding , by procuring quality assured malaria commodities from a WHO-accredited Pharmaceutical Company, EMZOR.

 

” In the same vein, the state government has provided all necessary logistics for distribution and inventory management across the state .”

 

Inname called on the partners to ensure the fulfilment of their own part of support to increase the covergae and make malaria commodities available in all public health facilities.

 

The Commissioner said that, the state government, through the Ministry of Health, State Malaria Elimination Agency and all relevant stakeholders, will work tirelessly and ensure the security of the delivered products.

 

” The state will ensure full community participation and urge the Ward Development Committees, across the state, to work with Health facility In-Charges, to ensure that all malaria services are given free to our people,” Inname, averred.
