Chairmen-elect for the 23 Local Governments in Sokoto State, were on Tuesday issued with  their Certificate of Return by the State Independent Electoral Commission ( SIEC).

 

The ceremony was presided by the Commission’s Chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Suleiman, who described the event as the Pinnacle of the LGs polls susccessfully conducted by it, last Saturday.

 

He said that, with the presentation, the stage had been set for their eventual swearing in by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

 

 

Suleiman expressed delight with the successful conduct of the polls , as well as acknowledged the support of Tambuwal and all stakeholders , towards ensuring the feat .

 

 

Also speaking , the Secretary of the Commission, Alhaji Nasiru Yahayya Isa, lauded the electorate, security agencies and all stakeholders for their exhibiting high sense of discipline, during and after the polls .

 

 

Responding in behalf of the Chairmen-elect, Chairman-elect for Sokoto North Local Government, a Veteran Journalist, Alhaji Mustapha Shehu Sokoto, pledged to live above board.

 

 

Shehu added that, they will justify the tremendous confidence reposed in them and promised to deliver the direly needed dividends of democracy to the electorate .

 

Meanwhile, the State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP), has congratulated the Chairmen-elect and Councillors-elect, for emerging victorious during the elections.

 

This was contained in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf Hausawa, on behalf of the Chairman, Alhaji Bello Muhammad Goronyo and issued to Newsmen in Sokoto,on Tuesday.

The party also expressed gratitude to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for his indefatigable support towards ensuring the success of the polls .

 

The PDP further lauded SIEC, security agencies, electorate and all the stakeholders for their invaluable support and cooperation, adding, ” we are delighted to witness this moment of history.”
