By; Imrana Abdullahi
Members of the Cloves Producers, Processors, and Marketers Association in Nigeria paid a courtesy visit to Engineer Sani Isma’ila, an elder statesman, to update him on preparations ahead of the April plantation period.
Led by Association President Malam Abdullahi Mohammed, the delegation sought fatherly advice on the new initiative, expressing delight that Kaduna State was selected for the pilot project.
They requested Kaduna State government’s intervention, seeking support with inputs and necessary resources for a strong start.
The Association believes that with state government backing, they will produce quality cloves for domestic use and export, enhancing food security, creating jobs, and stimulating Nigeria’s economy.
Introducing cloves production will also mitigate losses from ginger crop failures due to fungal diseases, which have impacted millions, especially in Southern Kaduna, and reduced government revenue.
Commenting, Engineer Sani Isma’ila, the elder statesman, lauded the Association’s foresight, encouraging them to excel and make Nigeria proud in cloves production.
He promised ongoing support, guidance, and fatherly advice to ensure success, noting that this would attract government and international investors.
As National Grand Patron of the Cloves Producers, Processors, and Marketers Association of Nigeria, Engineer Isma’ila pledged to work closely with cloves farmers, driving the industry forward.
