In his drive to strengthen responsive inter agency synergy towards mitigating crime in the zone, the newly deployed AIG Zone 10, Abubakar Lawal Daura says a holistic societal approach must be adopted by security agencies against kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling and other sundry crimes in the zone.
Zone 10 comprise of three states of Kebbi , Sokoto and Zamfara.
Lawal Daura spoke on Monday when he visited the GOC 8 Division, Sokoto, Major General Godwin Micheal Mutkut to register his presence as the Zone 10 AIG.
He said kinetic approach alone cannot solve the security challenges bedeviling the Zone hence the societal approach.
” We need to strengthen operational methods by evolving a responsive synergy between the police and army in tackling insecurity in the zone” , the AIG was quoted as saying during the visit according to a statement made available to reporters in Sokoto by Uthman Yaqub, the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer.
The Zone 10 Police Boss said the initiative was in line with IGP’s agenda As it is part of the IGP’s agenda of community policing, partnership and intelligence led operations of the force towards solving security and other problems bordering on lives and property of citizens for peaceful conduct.
AIG Daura who is also a fellow of the defence college, stressed the urgent need for sensitization to spotlight on harmonious relationship between and among the junior ranks and officers in order to mitigate the issue of clashes that occur among the junior ranks of the two services while commiserating with the GOC over the death of officers whose lives were lost in the recent attack in Niger state.
Responding, GOC 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto, Maj. General Godwin Mutkut while acknowledging the visit in excitement assured the AIG of the command readiness and assistance.
He pointed out that the two organizations had been on same working line with a strong synergy while citing the operation Hadarin-daji as practical example of the responsive collaboration being piloted in synergy against insecurity in the zone.
