Institute For Dietetic Kaduna Chapter Commemorated First Scientific Conference

 

 

The Institute for Dietetic in Nigeria, Kaduna State Chapter has commemorated the first scientific Conference with the theme ” Standard Operational Procedure And Guidelines For Dietary Management Of Non-Communicable diseases.”

The conference aimed to further enhance the capacity of the dietician practitioners for effective delivery.

The conference attracted participants from Kaduna state ministry for health and that of budget and planning commission, dietetic practitioners, academicians, Students, Accelerated Nutrition Result in Nigeria (ANRiN) and UNICEF representative.

During the event, participants deliberated on issues that can help to improve dietary standard to reduce non-communicable diseases like diebetes mellitus, obesity, cancer, cardiac disease among other related ailments.

Director public health Kaduna state ministry for health, Dr. Abubakar Sadiq lamented the increasing cases of non-communicable diseases among people, attributing the situation to poor dietary.

He said the Kaduna state government through the ministry of health and other relevant agencies are committed to address the challenge.

In their separate remarks,
Nutritionist Specialist UNICEF “C” field office, Kaduna, Mrs, Chinwe Eziefe and President Nutritionist Society of Nigeria Kaduna state Chapter, Hajiya Hauwa Usman as well as Kaduna State project coordinator Accelerated Nutrition Result in Nigeria (ANRiN) Hajiya Zainab Idris Kwaru said achieving success towards improving healthy living through good dietary intake lies on the commitment and collaboration with government and concerned organizations. Adding that dietetic practitioners must be acquired license and ensure their competency.

 

Ealier the Dean Faculty of Science and Technology, Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr. Aliyu Hassan is on the view that Dietitians- Nutritionists need modern training to succeed on their mandates.

During the conference, the participants pledged to continue to mobilize the general public on this purpose.
