Kaduna Dry Port Handles 500 Containers of Goods A Month – Buba Danjuma

By Imrana Abdullahi
The Deputy Director of Kaduna Dry Port, Buba Danjuma, has revealed the success story of the port, which include handles five hundred (500) containers of goods in a month.
Buba Danjuma disclosed this to newsmen at a meeting organized by the agency to brief stakeholders on the agency’s implementation of its outreach activities in Kaduna.
“We want to inform traders importing goods from abroad that the Kaduna Dry Port is growing in terms of the projects it is undertaking and is achieving great success, so this is a gateway for anyone to bring their goods to the Kaduna Dry Port from anywhere in the world, instead of someone going to Lagos to collect their goods that they have purchased from countries like the US, England, Japan, China and all over the world, and then someone should just  come to Kaduna Dry Port and  collect his goods as simple as that on time.”
Similarly, if a person is going to export goods abroad and has a market in England, America, China or Dubai, and a person comes to Kaduna to pack his goods in containers, we will inform the person on what he should do because the government office is open and all other government agencies and departments are there working, such as NAFDAC, SON, export promotion Council  officers are all there, so,person comes and we are going to tell him what to do, what to do and what not to do, repair the goods and seal them properly, to take it any where in the world such as China, India or wherever a person is going to take his goods to in the whole world, that is why we are telling the public that the Kaduna government, in partnership with the import and export control officers and the port, established this station and this station was created and now is great”.
The purpose of creating this station is to bring development close to the people, right to their doorsteps, that is why the station was said to be located here, therefore, everyone is being called upon to join this export business.
A foreign exchange that will boost income generation and create jobs until the national economy becomes strong and if the export business continues, the Nigerian Naira will definitely strengthen.
“Despite the current situation, it is said that the train will bring us goods because if the train is transporting goods, there will be no waiting for any thing  or delays, etc., if the ships with goods leaves from there, it will come straight to our land port. But because of the lack of the train, we are now using trailers, that is why you see the cost increasing because of the difficulty involved.
However, there is still convenience, so now we are getting five hundred containers to land at the land port in Kaduna in a month, and they are currently being delivered to the Kaduna port in one go. But if there is a land port, only God knows how much goods will be received without having to go to Lagos or anywhere else, traders will find it easier and our people will get a lot of work.
The work is too much to count. There are porters, transporters, cleaners, and many others, so we are calling on people to come into this business so that everyone can get the necessary capacity”.
“We have now started talking to the Kaduna State Government to allow this terminal to be open to all goods so that there will be no problem with the entry and exit of trailers. We also want trucks to enter and unload goods without any problem because they bring goods to the country, so they should be given the necessary facilities without any hindrances to enter and exit,” said Buba Danjuma, the acting deputy director of the Dry Port  Kaduna revealed to news men in Kadina
