Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority(KASUPDA) has commenced on the sensitization programme to people on temporary and informal activities along the roads set-backs in Kaduna Metropolis.
In a press statement issued to the press by the Head of Public Affairs Unit of the Authority, Nuhu Garba Dan’ayamaka said the sensitization programme followed after the media public enlightenment on the imperative need to those trading, hawking and all others unapprove activities along the roads set-backs to vacate from such places for urban sanity, security and safety of lives and properties in the state.
The areas visited so far, for awareness programme where people erected shops, containers, kiosks, signage as well as those displayed their wares and goods on the roads sides which were advised to vacated from those areas to approprite places designed for such activities which include: Muhammadu Buhari Way, Sokoto Road, Tafawa Balewa Way, Sultan Road, Rabah Road, Wurno Road, Kawo Flyover, A.A Rano- Kawo area, Kinshasha Road, Nakwamitse Road and among others.
KASUPDA further informed the affected people that failure to adhere with the directive within the stipulated time given to them, the next line of action was the clearing of those areas.
At the points of this sensitization exercise many of them have really understood that such places were not main for the activities in operation and as well expressed their satisfaction on the manner and approach by the KASUPDA’s staff.
However, many of the affected people appealed to the government to come to their aid, in view of the economic hardship in the country as most of them have family and clained that, they have no any other alternative places to them, stressing that, shops in the markets and other neighourhood centres were not affordable to them.
