A new GOC for the 8 Division Nigerian Army, Sokoto , appointed in acting capacity, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose has assumed office.
General Ajose who also doubles as Commander Joint Task Force of the Northwest Operation ‘Hadarin Daji’ took over from his predecessor, Major General Godwin Mutkut who has been posted to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre as Director, Military Technology.
A statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Shittu, the Division”s Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations said.
Meanwhile, the statement said the handing and taking over ceremony event was performed on Friday at the Division’s Headquarters, Giginya Cantonment, Sokoto.
Accordingly, in his farewell address Major General Mutkut eulogised the officers and soldiers of the Division for their unalloyed cooperation and support during his tenure, charging them to remain committed and disciplined.
Mutkut said the Division’s Area of Responsibilities (AOR) were not strange to his successor noting that he was a one time Brigade Commander.
The plateau state born General Mutkut further expressed confidence in his succesor’s capability to take the Division to greater height.
Making his remarks, the new GOC and Commander JTF NW OPHD, Brigadier General Ajose commended his predecessor for a successful track record, while seeking his continuous guidance.
General Ajose also expressed willingness to work with all officers and soldiers towards lasting peace and stability within the Division’s AOR while wishing his predecessor successful tour of duty in his new office.
However, until his new appointment, Brigadier General Ajoe was the Director of Administration at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji.
