…TEXT OF PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE NORTHERN CONSENSUS MOVEMENT OF NIGERIA (NCM) IN COLLABORATION WITH 63 FULANI ASSOCIATIONS
SUBJECT: UNLAWFUL KILLINGS AND HARASSMENT OF FULANI COMMUNITY IN LADDUGA GRAZING RESERVE IN KACHIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF KADUNA STATE AND SOME PARTS OF NORTHERN STATES.
Gentle men of the press.
Northern Consensus Movement of Nigeria (NCM), is an amalgamation of 594 COMMUNITY BASE, SOCIO-CULTURAL AND ECONOMIC INCLINED REGISTERED ASSOCIATIONS, that speaks and act appropriately on any matter concerning Northerners. We are peace Loving, abiding and cultured people that accomodate and respect other divers cultures.
Our diverse 19 Northern States reflect those ideals and with the simple beliefs that “if you think appropriately, you will speak appropriately and you will act appropriately”.
As law abiding and Bonafide citizen of Nigeria, whose innocent brothers and sisters are killed on daily basis, there is need to come together and express our displeasure, disappointment and also to address the lingering issues, towards finding a lasting solution.
Gentlemen of the press, you may wish to recall that some days back, some FULANI YOUTHS were attacked and killed in Tilde fulbe, by those SUSPECTED to be security agents, according to the information we received from our members.
Also of Note is the recent incident in Bokkos local government area of plateau State, where lives and properties were lost. This action is tantamount to provoking the Fulani youths, which may cause inflammatory reactions, that can be hazardous to peace and peaceful co-existence.
We call on the youths not to take the laws into their hands, as it may lead to breakdown of law and order and escalate the crisis.
We are therefore calling on the relevant Security Agencies, to trade with caution and act professionally on all operational engagements and allow the courts to perform their Constitutional responsibilities of prosecuting offenders in accordance with the Laws.
While we express our loyalty and total support to our Security Agencies as they are superintending in fighting criminalities and crimes in our society, we urge them to maintain neutrality.
We are aware that the leadership of the Armed Forces are Trained Professionals as such will not be part of anything unconstitutional.
Finally, we are calling on His Excellency, President Bola Ahmad Tinubu to look into the matter and find a lasting solution to the lingering crisis on the Plateau.
Thank you for listening.
Signed:
1. Dr Auwal Abdullahi Aliyu
President (NCM)
