Former Governor of Sokoto State and Senator representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has presided over the solemnisation of thirteen marriage ceremonies at his Gawon Nama residence in Sokoto.

The first, second, and third weddings were conducted by the Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, after the Chief Judge of Sokoto State, Justice Sa’idu Muhammad Sifawa, formally sought the hands of the brides in marriage.
The couples were Hussaini Haruna Adiya, who married Asma’u Bello Wamakko; Ashafa Ibrahim, who married Hussaina Idris (Yar Fulani); and Dr Ibrahim Ahmadu Suka, who married Dr Asma’u Haruna Adiya.
Dowries of ₦300,000, ₦200,000, and ₦500,000, respectively, were paid for the three marriages.
The fourth wedding was between Aliyu Jafar Muhammad and Safiya Abubakar, while the fifth was between Abba Abubakar Lamido and Naja’atu Aminu Magaji Bodai.
The sixth wedding was between Anas Muhammad Shuni and Ummulkulsum Aliyu Magaji Bodai, while the seventh united Abba Ardo Musa Shuni with Zainab Magaji Bodai.
For the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh weddings, dowries of ₦500,000, ₦300,000, ₦300,000, and ₦300,000, respectively, were paid.
The eighth wedding was between Isma’ila Sanusi Sodangi and Munirat Abubakar Shagari, while the ninth was between Muhammad Bello (Shafaya’u) and Salamatu Abubakar.
The tenth, eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth weddings were solemnised between Ibrahim Isah and Saratu Abubakar Sarkin Bakin Shinkafa; Bilyaminu Umar and Sadiya Muhammad; Bilal Alhaji Labaran and Fatimatu Aminu; as well as Engineer Abbas Abubakar Ahmad and his bride Rumaisa’u Almustapha Yabai.
For the remaining weddings — the eighth to thirteenth — dowries of ₦200,000, ₦400,000, ₦300,000, ₦300,000, ₦200,000, and ₦200,000 respectively were paid.
Shortly after the marriage procedures, the Sarkin Malaman Sokoto, Mallam Yahaya Muhammad Boyi, solemnised all thirteen weddings. Special prayers for Allah’s blessings upon the couples were offered by prominent Islamic scholars, including the Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Jumu’at Mosque, Mallam Malami Akwara; the Chief Imam of Shehu Jumu’at Mosque, Mallam Abubakar Shehu Na Liman; and Mallam Bashir Gidan Kanawa.
The historic event attracted many dignitaries and well-wishers who came to grace the occasion.
