Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Sarkin Yamman Sokoto, has presided over five wedding ceremonies across the state metropolis.
The first two marriages were contracted at the Ali Akilu area residence of Senator Salihu Bakwai Sabon Birni. The first union was between Muhammad Muhiddin Musa and Fa’iza Salihu Bakwai (Auta).

SA Media and Publicity made available to news men revealed that
Ambassador Sahabi Isah Gada, mni, stood in for the groom, while Ambassador Abubakar Shehu Wurno gave out the bride’s hand in marriage. The sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (₦200,000) was paid as dowry.
The second marriage joined Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Babban Gida (Shinaka) and Salma (Mommy) Shu’aibu. The Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga, stood in for the groom, while the Minister of State for Works, Barrister Bello Muhammad Goronyo, gave out the bride’s hand in marriage. A dowry of Three Hundred Thousand Naira (₦300,000) was paid.
Mallam Bashir Gidan Kanawa solemnised the two weddings, while three Islamic scholars—Mallam Nasiru Adaidaita Sahu, Mallam Bello Jibdawa, and Mallam Abubakar Unguwar Malamai—offered prayers.
At Rabah Road, Gawon Nama, the residence of the late Sheikh Haliru Binji, Senator Wamakko witnessed the wedding of Mus’ab Abubakar and Aisha Ibrahim Binji. Mallam Isah Talata Mafara stood in for the groom, while Mallam Bello Yabo gave out the bride’s hand in marriage. Following the payment of Three Hundred Thousand Naira (₦300,000) as dowry.
Mallam Bashir Gidan Kanawa solemnised the wedding.
Special prayers were offered by Sheikh Yahuza Shehu Tambuwal, Mallam Altine Mabera, and Mallam Nafi’u Malami Dan Haja.
From Rabah Road, the Senator and his entourage proceeded to Arkilla Nasarawa for the wedding of two couples: Yusha’u Bala Kokani, who married Fauziyya, and Ayuba, who married Hafsatu.
The Majority Leader of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Hon. Bello Idris Chimmola, sought Fauziyya’s hand in marriage for Yusha’u from the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kabir Ibrahim Kware.
Meanwhile, Hon. Umar Nagwari Tambuwal gave out Hafsatu’s hand in marriage to the groom’s representative, Hon. Ibrahim Almustapha Aliyu Rabah.
A dowry of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦500,000) was paid for each of the two marriages.
Mallam Bashir Gidan Kanawa solemnised the ceremonies, while the Deputy Chief Imam of the Sheikh Usmanu Bin Fodiyo Jumu’at Mosque, Mallam Buhari Shehu Na Liman, led the prayers.
Many personalities and dignitaries attended the ceremonies.
