A 20- member Finance and Debt Verification Committee has been set up by the state Governor-Elect, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto to probe outgoing governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s administration.
The Deputy Governor -Elect , Mohammad Idris Gobir is heading the committee which is among the 18 sub-committees inaugurated Wednesday by the Chairman of the APC Transition Committee, Ambassador Abubakar Sani, Makaman Sokoto.
However, the committee is saddled with the responsibility to identify loans secured by the Tambuwal administration since inception.
Meanwhile, the Governor-Elect decision sources say may not be unconnected with allegations raised by some lawmakers that the outgoing administration of Tambuwal secured N86 billion loans in favour of the state.
However, Tambuwal was in 2015 elected Governor on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) before quiting to join the main opposition party ,the People’s Socratic Party(PDP).
Accordingly, the Idris led committee would in the same vein , ascertain whether the loans secured were judiciously utilised for the primary purpose for which they were intended in addition to the volume as well provide comprehensive and detail information on the loans collected within the span of his administration.
The outgoing governor had on Tuesday made some last minutes 38 juicy appointments.
The appointments according to a release included 23 Permanent Secretaries and 15 Directors General.
