Sokoto Eastern Zone has been known to be a home of APC since before now, as such the remaining loyal bigwigs in the PDP have now resolved to join the winning team, the APC towards mobilizing more support for the party ahead of the 2023 elections.
DEFECTION:
In Gwadabawa Local Government Area of the zone, one of the PDP’s elders and a business mogul, Alhaji Umaru Garba from Gigane Ward of the area had dumped PDP for APC, giving an example of the glaring dearth of concern from the leadership of his former party as one of the reasons why he withdrew himself from the PDP.
Alh.Umaru further, told the APC Senatorial candidate in the zone, Alh. Ibrahim Lamido, who received him into APC that, in PDP no one cared about him even as he lost his property worth millions of naira sometime ago in an infano that occured but, none of the leaders of his party had shown any concern or sympathized with him.
He added that, as he dumped PDP, four more Ward chairmen in the area have decided to join him.
Similarly, another set of business leaders in the same Gwadabawa town have decamped to APC and were all received by the APC Senatorial candidate in the zone, Alhaji Ibrahim Lamido.
Those who defected are: Chairman, Grain Sellers Association in Gwadabawa Local Government, Alh. Aminu Malami, Chairman, Chicken Sellers Association in the same area, Alh. Nasiru Adina, and that of GSM Sellers Association, Alh. Aliyu Abubakar Oroji.
Others are: PDP youth leader, Salame ward, Alh Kabiru Sule, former Councilor, Tambagarka ward, Alh.Tanimu Bello and Alh.Nasiru Adamu, a ward exco member from Chimmola ward of the area, alongside multitude of their teeming supporters.
In the same vein, APC Senatorial candidate, in the zone, Alhaji Ibrahim Lamido Isa, has received another group of decampees from Sabon Birni and Isa Local Government Areas, respectively.
Those who defected to APC from Sabon Birni Local Government included; Women leader from Gatawa ward, Hajiya Mai Dare, Alh.Nura Almajir Burkusuma, P.R.O of the party, Abdullahi Isah, Bashiru Tela Burkusuma, Muhammad Sulaiman Gyangyadi and Iliyasu Ibrahim Araga, as well as Deputy women leader in the ward, Hajiya Chima Muhammad Burkusuma.
While the defectors from Isa Local Government Area are: PDP Youth leader in Tsabre Ward, Alh. Shi’itu Abubakar Tsabre, Ward Secretary, Alh. Lawali Musa Mai Akuya and Alh. Shu’aibu zubairu, Financial Secretary in the Ward.
Tsabre Ward is one of the largest Ward with highest votes in lsa Local Government.
Most of the speakers during the event, informed the APC Deputy gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Idris Muhammad Gobir and APC Senatorial Candidate, Alhaji Ibrahim Lamido Isa that, they resolved to dump PDP as it lost control and political will to drive them to the promised land.
They also revealed that, they came to APC alongside hundreds of PDP members in their areas, assuring of their unplinching support towards the victory of APC in the areas.
Speaking shortly after receiving the new comers, APC Senatorial Candidate in Sokoto East, Alhaji Ibrahim Lamido, lambasted the PDP- led-government of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for misusing the state’s resources, explaining that his zone, Sokoto East, has not benefited from any tangible project worth mentioning.
He added that, security, health sector, agriculture, education and youth empowerment, among many others, were all left unattended to and challenging the government to explain the whereabout of the state’s resources.
He said during the administration of Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, people from urban and rural areas had witnessed tremendous developmental projects which impacted positively to the lives of people of the state.
APC Deputy gubernatorial Candidate, Hon. Idris Muhammad Gobir, while congratulating Alhaji Ibrahim Lamido for his unrelenting efforts towards receiving members of other political parties into APC, assured the new entrants that they will not be sidelined.
Hon. Gobir described the defectors as one family, saying no one will be denied his or her positions which they were hitherto holding in their former party.
He described Alh. Ibrahim Lamido Isa as a good omen to the party especially his capacity as Senatorial Candidate in the zone, adding that, if given the mandate, he will deliver on his promises as a Senator representing the zone.
During the event, APC Chairman of Goronyo Local Government, Alh Kabiru Sarkin Fulani and APC State Assembly candidate, Alh. Awwalu Walin Isa, among others, were all at hand to receive the defectors.
