As Kaduna State gears up to host the 2026 Annual Week and National Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, has unveiled critical milestones demonstrating the state government’s commitment to ensuring a successful event.
Maiyaki spoke while receiving a delegation from the National Planning Committee of the NPRW2026, led by the Committee Chairman, Chief Yomi Badejo Okusanya, at the State Ministry of Information in Kaduna.
He stated that Kaduna’s selection as host for the over two thousand delegates is an external validation of the state’s governance model, where security rehabilitation, agricultural investment, and strategic communication are converging to drive sustainable growth.
“This conference is a significant endorsement of the trajectory we have set. We are not just hosting a discussion about food security; we are hosting it in a state that is actively demonstrating the metrics of success,” Maiyaki told the delegation. He added that the state’s improved security posture has been recently affirmed, with Kaduna moving from red to amber in security assessments.
The event, themed “Nigeria’s Food Security: From Policy Paper to Public Plate, The Imperative of Public Relations,” is scheduled for 19th to 25th April 2026. It will bring together globally recognized PR experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore how strategic communication can bridge the gap between policy formulation and real impact on the dining tables of Nigerians.
To affirm the state’s readiness and underscore the credibility of its peace and economic agenda, Maiyaki presented the visiting committee with a set of success benchmarks achieved under the administration of Governor Uba Sani.
According to the Commissioner, on agricultural resurgence, the government has facilitated the distribution of over 400 trucks of fertilizer to small-holder farmers, directly boosting crop yields. He further noted that security gains in previously volatile zones have enabled the evacuation of forty trucks of livestock weekly from Birnin Gwari, a region once synonymous with economic paralysis, signaling a return to commercial viability.
On education and security gains, Maiyaki stated that the much-lauded Kaduna Peace Model has moved from concept to community reality, enabling over twelve thousand students, who were previously displaced or withdrawn due to insecurity, to return to their classrooms.
On healthcare infrastructure, the Commissioner highlighted that the administration has renovated and upgraded 255 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state, ensuring that the dividends of peace are felt at the grassroots level, particularly within farming communities.
Maiyaki emphasized that these data points form the foundation of Kaduna’s new narrative. “When we speak of food security, we are speaking of a farmer in Birnin Gwari who can now tend his crops and take his livestock to market without fear. We are speaking of a mother who can access a functional PHC and a child who can safely return to school. These are the components of a stable society, and they are the prerequisites for filling the ‘public plate,'” he stated.
