Three students from the Faculty of Agriculture, Ahmadu Bello University, have been awarded scholarships by Indorama Eleme Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited.

Each of the students was given a cheque of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira only (N150,000) as scholarship. They are all 400-Level students with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). The students are Ahmed Sekinat Oziohu, Suleiman Ibrahim Aliyu and Omale Abraham Sebastian.
The brief but colourful occasion took place today at the Faculty’s huge lecture theatre which was filled to brim by students who came to rejoice with the beneficiaries.
The scholarship, ‘Indorama Fertilizer and Chemicals Limited Undergraduate Scholarship for Reward of Academic Excellence (IFCLUSRAE)’, is for this academic session.
Speaking at the scholarship award presentation, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala,
expressed the University’s immense gratitude to the fertilizer company for the gesture, saying that this would no doubt spur other students to work hard for this kind of honour.
The Vice-Chancellor, who was represented by the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Mahmud Mukhtar, also expressed the willingness of the University to collaborate with the giant fertilizer company in the area of research towards the promotion of agricultural development of the nation.
While thanking staff and students of the Faculty for their contribution towards the success of the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor appealed to the company for more scholarship slots because of the large population of students from the agric complex of the University.
Also speaking, the representative of the fertilizer company, Mr. Sanni Philips, who spoke on Indorama Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in Nigeria, assured that the scholarship award was going to be an annual event.
Phillips, an alumnus of the faculty, stressed that the fertilizer company was committed towards the training of Nigerian farmers by giving them the correct knowledge and skills for higher yields.
Omale Abraham Sebastian, who spoke on behalf of the awards recipients, thanked the company for the scholarship award and assured that the gesture would encourage them to go higher.
Former Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Alufunmilola Alabi, who delivered a goodwill message at the occasion, was among the many dignitaries who attended the scholarships award presentation.
