The Vice Chancellor, Sokoto State University, Professor Bashir Garba says the institution is measuring up towards advancing massive expansion in its faculties and programmes for academic excellence.
Professor Bashir made the disclosures in Sokoto Wednesday during a courtesy call on the newly sworn Governor of the state , Dr Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto.
He said the university was fast on track haven come of age since its establishment a decade ago with an initial students population of 800, three faculties and 23 foundation programmes.
” Today, we have a student strength of 9,000 with 4 additional faculties and a Post Graduate school”, he added.
However, the Vice Chancellor disclosed that the university was gearing towards the establishment of 3 more faculties of Engineering, Technology and Medicine with a functional Medical College currently in an advanced stage of completion to further compete favourably in the academics.
” We shall soon commence training in the two new faculties of Engineering and Technology inorder to bridge the long existing gap in the programmes” he assured.
According to Professor Garba” we are religiously committed to the course sos we don’t allow the NUC to pass find us wanting for not having sufficient manpower for full accreditation to enable smooth take off”, he said.
