Stop indiscriminate littering the environment with solid waste to avert flood disaster and water borne diseases in communities – scientist warn citizens .

 

Science -climatologist from college of health science and technology, and the Director African climate reporters Comrade Nurudden Bello has warned citizens to as a matter of urgency stop indiscriminate littering the environment with solid waste, in order to avert food disasters and the spread of water borne diseases in communities .

According to him this attitude of throwing and dumping all sort of trash and garbage into the gutter has contributed immensely towards flood disasters and spread of dangerous infections ,and at the same time, causes environmental pollution and Disasters.

He make the statements during an interactive section with stakeholders on preventing flood and other ecological challenges affecting local communities in kaduna and some Northern States of Nigeria.

He says all hands must be on deck to halt the spread of flood disaster and other ecological challenges affecting humans being, animals and other living organism in the environment.

He called on citizens to always keep their environment Clean and neat by reducing flooding through evacuating trash and garbage in their gutters to save their homes against this year flood and other ecological disasters.

Stressing that gutters are not meant for solid waste because dumping solid waste in them gives room for flooding.and such attitudes contribute towards killings the aquatic animals and other species in the environment.

“Gutters are not meant for solid waste ,and hence the need to halt dumping garbage and trash into them to save our aquatics and to avert water borne diseases ”

“Let’s be clean as citizens. When we put rubbish where water passes then our gutters will be choked”

Let’s stop dumping trash into the gutter in order to save aquatics animal’s against going extinctions due to human irrational activities of dumping all sort of trash and garbage into the river and oceans

In the meantime, he pointed that his organization is going to used social media to sensitive millions of African youths on harmful effects of throwing plastic waste and polythene bags into the river and oceans

While calling on SEMA, NEMA, Red cross and other humanitarian NGOs to double more effort towards towards educating the general public on dangers associated with dumping hazardous chemical waste into gutters
