THE APC’S ONSLAUGHT ON EDUCATION IN SOKOTO

The Sokoto State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party PDP commiserates with the state’s sons and daughters studying in tertiary institutions within and outside the country over the dilemma they are currently facing concerning the settlement of their tuition and allowances.
In a statement Signed by Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal,Publicity Secretary , PDP Sokoto State and made available to news men revealed that
PDP as a party understand the students difficulties  and the serious situation they are in considering that over 90% of our students are from under privileged families, who cannot afford the high cost of tertiary schooling at home, much less abroad. We also share their pains of facing the possibility of dropping out of school, due the decision of the current government of the state to settle only half of their tuition and allowances.
“The PDP views the policy by the government as anti-people and some how  move that will roll back the cummulated achievements of successive administrations in education”, the statement added.
While appreciating the kind intervention of concerned individuals in aid of some of the affected students, we demand that the government of Ahmed Aliyu reverse it’s anti-education policy and provide full sponsorship for the state’s students, as has been the tradition throughout the history of the state.
“We are aware that the unprecedented allocation to Sokoto State from the FAAC and wonder, on which priorities the huge funds are being expended do not include education”.
The State Government should therefore, come out, clean and explain to the people of Sokoto State, on where their monies are being appropriated, especially considering that thousands of civil servants were not paid their salaries for May, while others have not been paid for June 2023.
