The Dangote group of companies has contributed a greater part of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as well as employing the highest number of workforce in the country, Alhaji Ahmed Hashim.
Alhaji Ahmed Hashim who represented the General Executive Director (GED) of the Dangote group at the ongoing the 42nd Kaduna International Trade Fair, said that the company is already trying to revamp wheat farming in the country.
“We are the highest employer of Labour outside government. We are trying to revamp wheat farming and production just as we are also going to give employment to about 107,000 people in our sugarcane and rice plantations,” he said.
He also said that ” all the Dangote trucks you see plying the roads are being assembled in the country in a collaboration between Nigeria and Sino tricks company.”
Alhaji Hashim further added that the Dangote group in conjunction with the Kaduna state government are already building and reviving the Peugeot automobile limited in the state.
Speaking earlier, the Area General Manager (AGM) Sales and Marketing Kaduna Region, Dangote Fertilizer Ltd, Mr Agbana Isaac Oladele said that the company had created a unit responsible for soil sample collection for laboratory test and analysis.
He said that part of the vision of the fertilizer company is to help produce unique fertilizer for specific soil different from the current practice of producing a genetic brand of fertilizer for all kinds of soils that may not necessary need the same amount of nutrients.
He further added that ” our market development section is another unit with a team of agronomists that will engage in training and educating farmers through regular farmers meetings.”
Also speaking, the Area Sales Manager, North Central, Kaduna in charge of Salt and Seasoning, Mr Solomon Adeoye, said that the Dangote group had acquired a market share value of 70% in NASCON Allied Industry Plc and had been producing salt and seasoning since acquiring NASCON.
He further said that the salt produced by the company is fortified with essential vitamins for children mental growth.
He said that two brand of seasonings are produced by the company which are Dangote Quality Seasoning and Dangote Classic Seasoning.
He also said that apart from supplying salt for home consumption and for industrial use as he added that a brand new factory had been opened in Lagos state which will help in satisfying the yearnings and demands of the populace.
On his part, the Area Sales Manager North Central,Kaduna in charge of cement, Alb Mustapha Yelwa said that ” we have over 300 thousand customers that buy and distribute our cements throughout the country.”
He added that the company’s four plants produce over 33 million tones of cement as he gave a break downl of the production capacity.
He said that Obajana in Kogi state cement factory produce 15 million tones of cement, Ibeshe cement plant produce 12 million tones of cement, Gboko factory in Benue state produce 4 million tones and OK pella in Edo state produce another 12 million tonnes.
