The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC heartily rejoices as it celebrates end of the year 2025 with the reception of six serving State House of Assembly members from the ruling PDP in the state into its fold.

The new entrants who spoke through their sepearte letters read by the factional Speaker of the Assembly, Hon.Nasiru Gummi on the floor of the House yesterday, Wednesday 24th December, 2025 late evening sitting in Gusau, the state capital said their defection emanated from gross exhibition of abuse of office on the part of the executive, under governor Dauda lawal and the crisis in their former political party (PDP) at the national level causing uncertainty in the survival of the party in the country’s political arena and the high handedness of the leadership of the legislature under former speaker Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki
They also accused the Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly of serious serial violation of the Nigerian 1999 constitution as amended in the discharge of his assigned responsibilities by only dancing to the uncultured tunes and directives of governor Dauda Lawal.
Those who defected include the factional Zamfara State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Bashar Aliyu Gummi representing Gummi 1 Constituency, Hon. Amiru Ahmad Keta member representing Tsafe West, Hon. Muktar Nasir (Jikan Shehu), Member representing Kaura North, Hon. Nasiru Abdullahi Maru, member representing Maru North, Basiru Bello (Sarkin Zango), member representing Bungudu West and Barr Bashir Abubakar Masama Bukkuyum, member representing Bukkuyum North.
The Hon members remarked that the state House of Assembly is marked by errors, inconsistencies and flaws which have nullified most laws established or passed by them.
They described the APC as a party with fair treatment of its members, accommodating and working in tandem with the aspirations of Nigerians.
They commended the good and focused leadership of the APC, its respect to rule of law and equity displayed through its leaders in the state especially the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle and Distinguished Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar who have maintained cordiality in the party.
