Bauchi COVID-19 Committee visits stakeholders, seek for their support

The Bauchi State Task Force on COVID-19 through its Risk Communication, a sub committee has interacted with the officials of the Market Associations and commercial tricycle and vehicles operators in the state.

Those interacted by the committee are the Chairmen of Commercial Motor and Tricycle Riders Association, National Union of Road Transport Workers, Bauchi Central Market, Muda Lawal Market and Wunti Market.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Honorable Garba Dahiru who is the Chairman of the Committee, said the interactive session is sought for the support of the officials in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

Honorable Garba Dahiru, who spoke through a member of the committee, Alhaji Inuwa Bello described the union leaders as critical stakeholders in the ongoing sensitisation campaign on preventive measures against infection with COVID-19.

He enjoined the officials of the market associations and that of commercial operators to assist the state government in ensuring adherence to the protocols of wearing face masks, hand washing and use of hand sanitizers in their respective places.

The chairman who said the State Task Force on COVID-19 pandemic has recorded remarkable achievements in the area of reducing the number of cases, said with their support, the committee will tackle further spread of the virus.

“Our interactive session with you today is to tell you the number of measures taken by the State Task Force on COVID-19 pandemic with the support of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi state, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed to ensure the eradication of coronovirus in the state.

“This session will afford us the opportunity seek for your support in assisting government to tackle the spread of the virus through enforcing compliance on the protocols of wearing face masks, hand sanitizers and regular hand washing as well as observing social distancing.”

” We have planned to soon conduct a mega rally in Bauchi metropolis on the dangers associated with COVID-19 pandemic and we are soliciting for your support by sending your members to join us in the rally.”

The Chairman assured that, the Risk Communication committee not to relent in ensuring that, citizens of the state are fully sensitized on the protocols against infection with COVID-19 pandemic.

The Chairmen of the visited Associations pledged to compliment the efforts of the state government in curbing the spread of the novel coronovirus in the society.

They noted with satisfaction, the outstanding commitment of Governor Bala Mohammed towards ensuring the total eradication of the virus across the state.
