Breaking: NDLEA arrests suspect, destroys cannabis  farm in Sokoto

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency has confirmed the arrest of one Anas Sani Sanyinna , a 32 year in connection with 3 Acres of cannabis farm destroyed by the agency in Sanyinna town, Tambuwal local government of Sokoto state.

 

Mr Adamu Iro, Commandant of the agency’s Sokoto Command confirmed at a press briefing on Saturday .

 

He said the destruction of the ilicit substance farm was carried out on Friday.

Iro explained that the break-through followed an intelligence report which enabled personnel of the command swooped into action to uproot the illegal plant on a maize farm and got the suspect behind it arrested.

While noting that Sokoto had history of farming Marijuana, the Commandant added ” with this development , the state now places self on the map of producers of the illegal crop.

The commandant further stated at the briefing that, Sokoto has history of farming Marijuana but with the current happening, the state is trying to register itself as one of the state identified as producers of the illegal crop.

Meanwhile, responding to reporters questions, the suspect said he brought the seeds all the way from Lagos six months a go to plant ”

Expressing regrets, Sani Sanyinna said ” I called on those in the business and other potential victims in drug related crop cultivation to desist for meaningful and lawful ventures.”
