The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Zamfara State Command, Commandant Sani Mustapha on Monday 12th February 2024 paraded Suspected Vandals of Culverts and drainages in Gusau metro.

The State Commandant, Sani Mustapha who presented them to the public via the Public Relations Officer of the Corps Zamfara State Command, averred that, the Corps in the pursuant of its core mandates on the 2nd February 2024 arrested a group vandal syndicates who specializes in destroying culverts and constructed drainages to excavate iron rodes which were used to reinforce the culverts and drainages during constructions.
Commandant Sani Mustapha said about seven of these suspects were arrested on the scene and on the act around Samaru and Garage Mailena areas of Gusau metro. They include; Sani Abubakar (m) 70 years, Bashir Dalhatu (m)18years, Sani Ibrahim (m)61years, Abdulkadir Gambo(m) 23 years, Ibrahim Saidu(m) 19years, Sani Lawali (m) 22years, Bello Hassan (m) 48years.
These suspects were apprehended with the following working implements; Shovels, Diggers, Rakes,Hoes, Hammers, Pin Rodes and pinches,Machete, Hack saws, Knives etc. Which were being used for the destruction of the drainages and culverts to enable them excavate the iron rodes.
Commandant Sani Mustapha also said that Iron Rodes off 10mm cut into 5feet each, tied in 13 bunches and other irregular ones newly excavated from the vandalized areas yet to be cut into pieces, were found with the suspects as exhibits.
Commandant Sani Mustapha opined that, fighting vandalism is part of the Core mandates of the Corps, and based on that premium, the suspects will be charged to Court on Criminal Trespass and Mischief Contrary to Sections 185 and 380 of the Shariah Penal Code (2000).
The State NSCDC Boss however warned the general public to refrain from such act of vandalism as the Corps is poised to deal with anyone caught in such act using the extant laws of the Federation.
