Fuel supply normalcy to be restored soon in Sokoto, Kebbi, DPR assured DPR

From Mohammed Salisu in Sokoto
The Department of Petroleum Resources ( DPR), says normalcy of Petroleum supply will soon be restored to both Sokoto and Kebbi States, its Sokoto  Operations Controller, Alhaji Muhammad Makera, has assured.
Makera gave the assurance on Tuesday, in Sokoto, when he gave an update on the Petroleum supply situation in the zone.
According to him, contrary to what was obtaining before, no fewer than thirty five trucks of Petrol or Premium Motor Spirit ( PMS), were supplied to Sokoto State on Monday,  March 30,2020, with twenty trucks meant for Sokoto metropolis alone.
During the same period, fifty five trucks were supplied to Kebbi State, with eleven trucks designated for Birnin Kebbi metropolis.
Makera noted,” there is a remarkable improvement in the supply situation and the tempo would be sustained .
” We are therefore strongly hopeful that the current paucity of the products and the attendant hardship in acquiring the commodity would soon ease up.
” We are also assuring the motoring public that, the Department will not rest on it’s oars in enforcing total compliance with the recent price reduction of the pump price by the Federal Government from N 145 to 125.
” This would be done strictly in spite of the huge staffing challenges occasioned by the Federal Government’s directive to all staff on Grade Levels 12 and below to work from their homes.”
Makera futher averred that, the Department had fully deployed all the available local management staff to sustain the tempo of monitoring the compliance level by both the Major and Independent Petroleum Marketers in the two states .
” So far , so good, as at Monday, March 30,2020, more than ninety nine per cent of the filling stations on our manifest had totally complied with the N 125 price regime .
” Motorists should therefore avoid panic buying as we are not expecting any fuel scarcity .”
