IN fulfilment of his purposeful drive towards reciprocating the support given him by the electorates, Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has awarded contract for the construction of 11.6km Gawo, Darhela, Sifawa road in Bodinga local government area of the state.
The contract is one of the many awarded, commissioned and executed by the governor to mark his 100 days in office.
Flagging off the contruction work which is expected to link Bodinga town, the headquarters of Bodinga local government with surrounding communities, firmer governor of the state and one time Minister, Alhjai Yahaya Abdulkarim lauded Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for the giant strides towards improving and impacting the lives of people of the state.
The contract is initiated as part of the governor’s commitment under his rural development program designed to provide infrastructure to rural dwellers.
While flagging off the projects at Bodinga on Wednesday, the former governor of the state MalamYahaya Abdulkarim commended the State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu for impacting positively on the lives of the citizens of the state since when he was sworn in as the as executive Governor in may 2023.
” I am not amazed with the remarkable steps of the governor considering the track record and legacies of his mentor and father , former governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko who through out his 8 years as governor brought tremendous but positive change in the state .”
This, the former governor said would include potable water , fertilizers for farmers , healthcare services, improved road network both rehabilitation and construction to further enhance and boost social and economic activities for the benefit of citizens in the state.
Abdulkarim expressed optimism that more and better things to be provided for the rural and urban settlements across the state
by Dr Aliyu Sokoto were underway as he described the governor as development oriented with focus and concerned about developing infrastructure and ensuring peoples wellbeing urging other governor’s to take cue.
He however, remarked that upon completion of the road, rural areas would be opened to beneficial agriculture and economic activities, thus, guarantee smooth movement of farm produce as well people across surrounding communities.
” Given this milestone as it spreads across communities in the state, it will afford Sokoto state to occupy its rightful place and space in the northwest as first among equals in providing ease to security personnel to reach out to communities in time of distress and enhance transportation services in the local government especially on market days “, he pointed out.
According to Abdulkarim, all these he said would further endear the governor to the teeming populace and encourage better understanding , support and cooperation between his government and the people of Sokoto state, adding ” It’s my prayer that God continues to strengthen his sense of resilience , give him the wisdom and courage to serve Sokoto state and humanity.”
Earlier while lamenting that Bodinga local government area was behind in terms of infrastructural development compared with its contemporaries, Governor Ahmed Aliyu said ” We will open it up for commercial and agricultural purposes.”
According to the governor , all these and many other necessary reasons were responsible his administration’s determination to fast track a workable solution and engage in aggressive urban and rural development drive to turn around the fortune of Sokoto state for prosperity.
” Our rural areas lack meaningful development which is why we are focusing on a renewed drive that will bring changes to our communities”, he remarked.
The governor assured of a prudent management of the state scarce resources for quality service delivery especially on capital projects. We want to be prudent in our expenditure and avoid frivolous spendings as well improve on our IGR drive for the desired positive results “, he emphasised.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries of the road project, the immediate past Minister of Police affairs, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi who is from the local government, commended the governor for his desire to develop rural communities.
He said when completed the road would open up the area for business activities and would enhanced the lively hood and economic fortunes of the villages along the road.
” Bodinga urban market will be flooded with goods which will improve it’s status as one of the leading markets for agricultural produce in the state.
” I implore our farmers to take advantage of the road by engaging in larges scale commercial farming to produce goods that will advance their immediate market, which is now brought much closer to them”
” We will continue to appreciate and support Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto in his zeal and determination to develop rural Communities and open up the state for commercial and other businesses to the outside world”
