SULTAN of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has called on Nigerians to join hands to free the country from current security challenges that is becoming a global phenomenon.
” We should collectively do whatever we can to free the country from the menace fast enveloping the world”
Similarly, he urged Nigerians to wisely exercise their franchise in voting credible and good leaders in the coming general elections for February and March respectively.
Abubakar spoke when he received participants of the 29th joint regular meeting of the National Council on Water Resources in Sokoto who paid him a courtesy call in his palace .
While noting that many negative comments were being made on Sokoto and the North on security situation, the revered monarch said ” since you are here in Sokoto, you are leaving witnesses that the state is peaceful , quiet and environmentally stable.”
According to the religious monarch who is 16 years on the throne told the participants that Sokoto state remain a home to all while pointing out that there was no non indigenes but resident communities stressing that ” we are one big family.”
He continued: ” No resident communities in Sokoto are paying school fees for their wards in all public schools across the state” It’s free of charge” the monarch cited.
He further emphasised the need for all to jettison ethnicity for the progress of the country as a nation pointing out that, Nigeria was far better than many countries of the world in terms of security.
“Let’s put ethnicity aside if we want our country Nigeria to progress as a nation, adding that Nigeria is far better than many countries of the world in terms of security.
Abubakar further explained that “God has adequate reasons for making us live together in respective of our beliefs, tribe or ethnicity”, saying that if He so wishes, He will in his wisdom make us speak the same language and practice same religion without challenge.”
