The 17 registered political parties participation in Saturday’s governorship and state assembly polls in Sokoto state have given their words for peaceful and smooth conduct of the exercise.
Confirming the resolution at a joint press briefing Thursday evening , the state IPAC chairman, Abba Sidi who doubles as the state chairman, APP said any one found wanting should be decisively dealt with in line with the provisions of the law.
Going forward, Bello Aliyu Goronyo and PDP state chairman said his party was in tune with the peace pact while cautioning supporters and members of the party to distance selves from any act violence, threat and intimidation before, during and after the polls.
Hitherto, his APC counterpart, Isa Sadiq Achida, preached to the party’s supporters to uphold the principle of peaceful conduct devoid of violence.
” I call on our supporters to be calm and behave maturely even after the declaration of the winner”, stressing that peace was an important instrument for development which must be sayings imbibed beyond election period.
