Although , the genesis of the fire incident was not officially known but sources say that it began from a site of a solid waste dump.
However, speaking to reporters as the fire was still raging , Garba Mohammed, the Chairman, Motorcycles Marketers Association , Sokoto state said the number of motorcycles destroyed could not be ascertained.
He said ” we cannot specify the actual figure destroyed as a result of the incident which left many people in total lost of their goods and sites to the fire which started around 6 am today(Monday).
” A lot of them could not arrive the scene early enough for possible rescue of their motorcycles and other items”, Mohammed said as he confirmed the presence of officials of federal and state fire service battling to put off the fire which he observed might take some of time while appealing to the state government for assistance to those who lost their property during the inferno.
