The action was followed after public announcement on media, sensitization visits and stakeholders engagement meetings in order to give the affected people ample time to remove their properties as well to vacate from those places.
The Authority maintained that, in view of the successful achievements recorded so far in the urban planning and city beautification such erection of shops, containers, kiosks and signage without approvals as well as the display of wares or goods on roads set-backs were source of concern to the environmental harzard, traffic congestion and security threat in the state.
At the points of enforcement exercise, some of the defauters confirmed that, the Authority had informed them, but stressed that poverty, socio-economic hardship in the country,non-completion of the modern markets development project, exobital price of shops in the markets and neighbourhood centres, high rate of unemployment and insecurity challenges as factors attributed to them for the informal activities along the roads set-backs in the state.
Others upheld and understood that such places were not main for the business in operation but maintained that, they have no any other option.
Mean-while, a lot of them appealed to the government for the alternative places to enable them carrying out their legal business activities before vacating them.
