A special prayer for the successful inauguration of the incoming APC led government in the state was yesterday organised by the party’s transition committee.
Imams of various Juma’at and daily prayer mosques including scholars and stakeholders converged on Tinubu Hall, Gawon Nama Area, Sokoto where the prayer was conducted ahead of Monday’s swearing ceremony.
The prayer according to a release by the Special Assistant Media and Publicity to Senator Aliyu Wamakko, Bashar Abubakar is to seek Allah’s continued guidance Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto and Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir as Governor and his Deputy respectively.
Accordingly, the state APC Leader and Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko explained that the prayer was aimed at seeking the devine assistance if Allah for the success of the incoming administration in the state and Federal Government under the President -Elect, Sen
Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
However, Wamakko appreciated their tremendous support and fervent prayers to APC leadership in the course of its struggles while thanking them for mutually attending the prayer session as he assured of a more robust and continued cooperation at all times.
Meanwhile, the special prayer session was coordinated by Mallam Bashir Gidan Kanawa and conducted by 13 Islamic scholars.
Prominent among them was the Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Jumu’at Mosque, Imam Malami Akwara, Sarkin Mallaman Sokoto, Mallam Yahaya Na Malam Boyi, Alkalin Mallaman Sokoto, Mallam Umar Ahmad Helele and Mallam Bello Kofa.
Other scholars included: Sheikh Abdul’aziz Kofar Rini, Sheikh Yahuza Shehu Tambuwal, Mallam Yusuf Labbo and Mallam Nafiu Malami Dan Haja, among others.
The prayer session was attended by the Governor -in – waiting, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, his deputy, Alh. Idris Mohammed Gobir, former Deputy Governor, Alh. Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo, two former Ambassadors, Abubakar Shehu Wurno and Sahabi Isah Gada
Others were: APC bigwig in the State, Alhaji. Umarun kwabo AA, Hon. Bala Hassan Abubakar, Member – elect, House of Representatives, Sokoto North and South Federal Constituency, politicians and business tycoons, among others.
