The attention of Sokoto State Government has been drawn to the urgent and need for the provision of assorted fertilisers to the farmers in the state.
This clarion call is coming considering the fact that fertiliser is yet to be provided despite the fact that this year’s farming session has almost reached its peak.
In a statement Signed by Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, Publicity Secretary, PDP Sokoto State and made available to news men revealed that
the Sokoto State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the state government to heed to this call and hasten the provision and distribution of the all-important commodity to the farmers in the state.
This is to enable them intensify their farming activities with a view to have what is real food security in the state and the country in general.
The statement, also urged the present APC-government in the state to borrow a leaf from the previous government in ensuring the timely distribution of fertiliser and other farming inputs to the farmers because is what Sokoto people need to see food on their tables not unnecessary issues.
According to the statement, PDP advises the government to focus on what is important and urgent needs to the people of the state, instead of taking unnecessary measures by living what will move the state forward.
The party said that it noted with great concern how the present administration has been paying attention to trivialities rather than issues crucial to the upliftment of the well-being of the generality of the people of the state.
The PDP sadly recalled that by this time, the previous PDP-led government had since provided and distributed fertiliser to farmers across the state with a good intention to have a bumper harvest.
The statement urged the farmers to bear with the situation as the present APC government in the state is more focussed on unnecessary things than what is better for the state and its people.
The PDP, therefore, urged the state government to focus it’s attention on making life better for the people of the state, rather than obnoxious issues that only serve their egocentric interests.
“A stitch in time, they saves nine. The time to swiftly act is now,” Sanyinnawal added.
