Sokoto rerun: Ongoing peacefully, smoothly across affected PUs

Accreditation and voting commenced simultaneously as early as 8:30 am peacefully and orderly in the re-run elections taking place across the 46 polling units in Sokoto state as ordered by the Court.
It is observed that  there is large  turnout of women at the Rijiyar Ajiya 001 polling unit of Yabo B  as the exercise is going smoothly under the watch of security  and respective party agents.
For the Federal Constituency rerun for Yabo/Shagari , 8  PUs and 18 PUs are affected respectively.
The re-run contest is between Hon. Umar Yusuf Dan Maje of the PDP and Hon. Dan Bukari of the APC who lost at the general elections in 2023.
While for the  Tambuwal and Bodinga State Constituencies, across15 PUs and 5PUs are expected to participate.
It is observed that  there is large  turnout of women at the Rijiyar Ajiya 001 polling unit of Yabo B  as the exercise is going smoothly under the watch of security  and respective party agents.
Speaking to our Correspondent, the Electoral Officer , Zainab Ibrahim confirmed that electoral materials including BVAS machines were readily at hand and functioning without hitch.
No fewer than 160 eligible voters had cast their votes as at 12:39pm The Nation reports.
One of the PDP stalwart and former Council Chain Yabo local government, Hon Bala Musa Yabo expressed satisfaction with the process noting that ” everything is going on well and smoothly without cause for alarm.
” In  Yabo, we are one family and no sign of any problem so far. Even in the general elections , we did not experience hitches so, why should we anticipate anything  ” , he said
Also in Shagari and Tambuwal massive turnout of voters at the affected polling units were noticed as the exercise was peaceful.
As at the time our Correspondent visited some of the polling units affected, the exercise was going on smoothly without any technical hitch or complaint on BVAS malfunction.
Impressed by the smooth conduct of the exercise and presence of security, Professor Tambari Yabo told our reporter that ” I was opportune  to go round and observe the exercise and to the best of my knowledge, is a thing to commend INEC for it arrangement at ensuring prompt arrival of materials  and commencement of the exercise”, he said.
