Sultan Bello Mosque Is For Muslim Ummah Under The Care Of JNI

Considering that Ramadan is a month of the Glorious Qur’an, the month of Qiyamul-Layl

(standing in the night for prayers), the month of Du’a (supplication), and Dhikr (Allah’s

remembrance), and of course the month of charity and generosity, the month of spiritual self- evaluation and the month of sacrifice and empathy, we ordinarily wouldn’t have joined issues with people who deliberately distort facts as they are.

However, we need to strengthen the records, regarding the appointment of Deputy Mufassir at the Sultan Bello Mosque, thus, why we called for this briefing.

1. The sultan Bello mosque was built in 1963 by the late Sardaunan Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello.

The Sardauna then requested the late Sheikh Abubakar Gumi to oversee the affairs

of the mosque which was entrusted to the care of Jama’atu Nasril Islam

2. The Sultan as the President General of JNI is the only authority appointing Imams, Deputy Imams, Mufassir and deputy Mufassir of the Sultan Bello mosque through the JNI andsometimes he ask the Emir of Zazzau to do it.

3. The JNI appointed the late Sheikh Halliru Binji as Mufassir on 25th January, 1993 after the demise of the late Sheikh Abubakar Mahmoud Gumi

4. After late Sheikh Binji, the JNI also appointed the late Sheikh LawalAbubakar whose demise gave rise to the process that brought Dr. Ahmad Gumi on board.

5. Dr. Gumi was appointed as the Mufassir on 16th August, 2004 along with late Sheikh Dr.

Alhassan Hafiz Said Jos as deputy Mufassir.

 Thus, Dr. Ahmad Mahmud Abubakar Gumi is himself an appointee of the JNI vide a letter to that effect dated

6. It is on record that JNI is the one

sponsoring the annual Tafsir through payment of

honorarium to the Mufassir, Deputy Mufassir and the Alaramma every year.
