Union Across River Niger: New Nigerian Editor Brother’s Wedding Grounds Makurdi

 

 

Makurdi the capital of Benue State was agog all through the weekend, as activities related to tying of nuptial knots between Solomon Okala Dickson, younger brother to the Online Editor of New Nigerian Newspapers, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson and his sweetheart, Nneoma Igwe grounded the city.

 

The activities spanning several days, reached its climax at the Presbyterian Church Makurdi, were the lovebirds exchanged marital vows on Saturday April 13, 2024.

 

Nine men of God, led by Rt. Reverend Uma Uma Okorie (JP), were on ground to shower their blessings on the new couple.

 

Rt. Reverend Okorie was assisted by The Reverend Blessing A. Abuja, Reverend Gideon Anawo Egwu, Reverend Godswill Agbai, Bishop David Poyi and Pastor Peter Oduma.

 

Others are Pastor Ifeanyi Ndubuisi and Pastor Oloche Odihi.

 

A day earlier, all roads led to the Makurdi residence of late Engineer Isong Igwe and Mrs. Theresa Igwe of Ndiabago Compound, Ozu Abam of Arochukwu LGA Abia State, where the soon to be groom’s family of late Chief Dickson Abodu and late Mrs. Cecilia Dickson of Agboke Oglewu, Ohimini LGA of Benue State, went to complete traditional marriage rites, in a colourful atmosphere of cultural display, showing two cultures from Northern and Southern Nigeria.

The traditional marriage, attracted family members from all over Nigeria and abroad, with merriment that was second to none.

 

However, the highpoint of the four days of the wedding, ended at the Sheraton Hotel Makurdi, were the reception was yet graced by several dignitaries, including the President of Northern States Christian Elders Forum (NOSCEF), Engineer Oyinehi Ejoga Inalegwu, who was the chairman of the occasion.

 

The wedding reception venue was thrown into wild jubilation midway, when the patriarch of the late Chief Dickson family, Isaac, stormed the venue unexpectedly after flying into Nigeria after living abroad for over 14 years.
