Unions in the aviation industry have issued a notice of strike at the Kaduna airport from next week.
In a letter to inform the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN of their action, the strike is scheduled to kick off from midnight of Sunday, 16th May 2021 to midnight of Friday, 21st May 2021.
The aviation unions under the aegis of the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP) in an official statement issued Saturday and jointly signed by the unions scribe say, the shut down of the Kaduna Airport is in compliance with the strike action declared in Kaduna by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
The unions have directed all its members at the Kaduna airport to withdraw all services for the 7days the strike is to last.
The statement signed by the Secretaries General, of ANAP, Comrade Abdulrasaq Saidu, NAAPE, Comrade Umoh Ofonime and NUATE, Comrade Ocheme Aba, read: Notice of Strike Action At Kaduna Airport,” “We are constrained to inform you that in compliance with the industrial action declared in Kaduna by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and our unions as above shall proceed to effect the action from the midnight of Sunday, the 16th May, 2021 to midnight of Friday, the 21st of May, 2021″.
“Accordingly, all workers at the Kaduna Airport have been directed to withdraw all services at the airport within the stipulated period. In effect, there will be no operations of any kind into, at or out of, the airport within the period.”
