The Federal Government of Nigeria has been called upon to honor Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, the Founder and Chairman Governing Council of Maryam Abacha American University conglomerate, with one of the country’s top national honors in appreciation of his selfless service to humanity.
A staff of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Mahdi Aliyu Wamakko, made the call on Wednesday, 26th April, 2023, while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after he visited the University, located at Hotoro GRA, Kano state.
Wamakko, who is the son of the former governor of Sokoto and Senator representing Sokoto North, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, described Prof. Gwarzo as an education liberator and pathfinder, who invested hugely to ensure that education is given the much needed attention it deserves.
He noted that Prof. Gwarzo deserves the honor in view of his commitment towards eradicating ignorance in Northern Nigeria as well as his incredible effort towards empowering the youth and the less privileged in the society.
According to Wamakko, honoring Prof. Gwarzo with a national award would stimulate and inspire other people to do more excellent work and meritorious services for the nation.
He advised well-to-do individuals in the society to take advantage of the new institution by taking their children to MAAUN so as to enable them secure quality education and contribute their quota towards the development of the country.
“I’m happy to say that MAAUN is one of the best private University if not the best because of the state of the art facilities that are put in place.So, I advise parents especially in this part of the country to bring their children here to study instead of taking them outside the country.
“Prof. Gwarzo should be honored by the Federal Government as no individual in the country has made investment in the sector like him, ” he said.
