2023: Elections phobia rattles Sokoto PDP – Achida

By Suleiman Adamu, Sokoto

The All Progressives Congress in Sokoto state says PDP in the state has been rattled by the upcoming elections phobia for embarking on panicky appointment measures to boost its support base, a scenario the APC likened to as “too late to cry when the head is off.”

It said the PDP has lost the support of the people of Sokoto State.

Similarly, the opposition party reiterated that it will not disappoint the good people of the state by ensuring the narratives were changed against the dotted grey areas caused by the ruling PDP poor performance.

Addressing a press conference Tuesday in Sokoto, Hon. Sadik Isah Achida , the state APC Chairman said APC and its teeming supporters remain patient and resilient with the inept, failed and unpopular PDP government in the state.

In the same vein, Achida noted with displeasure the recently presented budget tagged “Budget of consolidation and finishing strong” by governor Aminu Tambuwal describing same as mere cover up exercise without considering the electorate.

He said the proposal betrayed the government’s sense of priority, when essential services such as Water Supply, Education, Health facilities and drugs, Fertilizer and Rural roads remain ignored.

” The state government proposed the sum of N1.5Billion for the procurement of new vehicles for Commissioners and its uncountable Special Advisers.”

Achida further alleged that ” what we saw, was nothing but misplacement of priorities, a bundle of contradictions and aims to uplift the personal comfort of political office holders, over and above providing essential services to the people.”

Hitherto, while noting that, Achida observed there were alleged duplication of projects, where a road project (Dogondaji to Sabawa), quoted at #600million was also duplicated at #1Billion.

” A further critical observation of the Budget presentation, shows that the key sectors of Education, Health and Agriculture mentioned as enjoying lion share allocations, were actually relegated with meager percentages in the Capital breakdown”, he pointed out.

Moreso, the APC chairman added” it is disheartening, that the governor said little, if any, about the performance of the outgoing budget, but rather decided to bury the details of his government’s failures, to avoid public scrutiny.”

On the move to secure bank loans by the Tambuwal PDP led government, Achida further maintained in strong terms that ” we also wish to strongly advise the lender Banks not to grant the loans being applied for, as doing so will be at their own risk. As a popular wise saying goes,” to be forewarned, is to be forearmed “.
