COVID 19: Sokoto CJ directs release of 100 inmates

Sequel to the raging global COVID 19 Pandemic, the Sokoto State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Saidu Muhammad Sifawa, has directed the directed the release of over 100 inmates with minor offences, awaiting trials, who were unable to meet their bail conditions.

This is also a way of reducing the risk of contracting the Coronavirus Disease, also known as COVID 19, as well as to further decongest the nation’s prisons .

This is contained in a statement signed by Bashar Ibrahim Tambuwal, Acting Chief Registrar, High Court of Justice, Sokoto.

The released inmates comprised of those with cases at Magistrate and Shari’a Courts in the state.
