Born in London, England, on June 28, 1983, Zainab Musa Musawa was raised in a big family that emphasized culture, education, and hard work. She was conceived during the political era of Malam Aminu Kano, who advocated for “democratization, women’s empowerment, and freedom of expression,” and was raised by
diplomats and empaths.
Her parents were both wonderful individuals who instilled in her the importance of
respect, love, and self-worth. Growing up, Zainab was an adventurous child who dared to attempt anything, but her insatiable curiosity about learning new things led her to pursue further education.
She began her studies in 1986 at Kaduna’s Essence International School, then moved on to the Federal Government Girls College in Zaria, where she finished secondary school in the year 2000.
Then At the reputable University of Abuja, where Zainab was admitted to study Accounting, she earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in 2005.
She began working for the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) upon graduation. There, she spent several years in a variety of positions honing her abilities in bank inspection as a financial regulator, risk-based
supervision, and professional expertise in finance and auditing. processes and procedures. She established a reputation at NDIC for her determination to complete tasks, politeness and respect, teamwork, and creative
thinking, all of which assisted in her career advancement.
She subsequently completed her studies at the
famed Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), where she earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration (PGD), and shortly thereafter pursued her Masters in International Affairs and Strategic Studies (MIASS) in 2015.
Never giving up, Zainab obtained admission to the University of Liverpool to complete her second master’s degree after earning an M.Sc. in international management with honors there in 2017.
In order to supervise and spearhead the successful execution of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Program (GEEP), Zainab was appointed as the Technical Adviser to the Hon. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development in 2019.
The program’s objective is to provide financial support to underprivileged populations in Nigeria who are skilled in microbusinesses and small-scale agriculture.
Zainab was eager to take on the task because this was an important turning point in her
career.
In her role as the Team Lead for GEEP 2.0, Zainab was able to apply her experience and expertise to improve the lives of several small-scale farmers and disadvantaged and vulnerable microbusiness owners Over 1
million Nigerians have currently benefited from the program. with 3 million predicted to be added in 2023 alone.
Zainab put in a lot of effort to make the program a success. She is pleased with what the ministry has already accomplished. Zainab Musa Musa has two lovely children in addition to her work. She finds inspiration and
motivation in her family, who have also provided her with a lot of support along the way. Beyond the love of family, Zainab is a member of an Islamic charity called the Darrus Saliheen Foundation, whose mission is to improve the lives of the sick and underprivileged.
