Polls: INEC says nothing to hide, assures impartial exercise

The Independent National Electoral Commission says it has nothing to hide in delivering smooth , transparent and credible governorship and state assembly polls in Sokoto state.

INEC,  disclosed that the exercise will strictly be driven in the spirit of impartiality inorder to uphold the Commission’s integrity.

The National Commissioner and overseer of the polls in Sokoto state, Major General Modibbo Alkali rtd disclosed this on Wednesday in Sokoto during the commencement of distribution of sensitive materials to the 23 LGs of the state.

He said the Commission’s primary mandate and responsibility was to independently serve the state and nation with commitment to driving a free, fair , transparent and credible electoral exercise.

” Our constituency is Sokoto state and Sokoto people. No one should feel different . We are here to serve you all in peace.”

According to Alkali who reassured of the Commission’s readiness to doing the needful as an umpire added ” there is no cause for alarm. We have cordoned the entire state and anny attempt to undermine the arrangement will be decisively tackled and dealt with accordingly.”

He explained that the commission was on top of its time lime to ensure early arrival of both materials and officials at designated polling units to enable an peaceful and orderly conduct of Saturday’s exercise.

” There is adequate provision of logistics and have liaised with the NURTW to ensure smooth distribution and deployment of both materials and officials for the elections.”
