TWO first class emirs in the northern Nigeria from Kebbi state, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar and Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu Mera, of Gwandu and Argungu respectively visited Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko on a Sallah homage.
According to the duo who met with the APC Leader in Sokoto state on Sunday at his Gawon Nama Sokoto residence, they were in Sokoto to congratulate him on the successful completion of Ramadan fast as well as to congratulate the Governor-elect, Hon. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto on his election victory.
The Emir of Argungu accompanied by all Council Chiefs of the two emirates, adequately stood in for the emir of Gwandu who was unavoidably absent for obvious reason during to the visit.
Mera told Wamakko that they were in the caliphate in solidarity to rejoice with their victory during the last Presidential, National Assembly and Governorship elections.
He stressed the long standing and beneficial bond of fraternity and brotherhood that existed for decades between the two states of Sokoto and Kebbi.
The Emir prayed Allah, the Almighty to continue to grant more prosperity to both states, as well as divine protection.
However, Senator Wamakko while responding , welcomed with delight the unprecedented visit by the duo whom he noted were respected traditional leaders of high esteem in the north of Nigeria.
He described the delegation led to his residence by the Galadiman Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Aliyu Attahiru Galadanci Sokoto as a powerful composition noting that
the visit was an indication of the long standing mutual and cordial relationship between the two states.
Accordingly, Wamakko, on behalf of the Governor-elect in a release by his Special Assistant Media and Publicity, Bashar Abubakar appreciated the gesture of the two traditional rulers and prayed Allah to continue to assist them in the discharge of their duties.
The visit was witnessed by the Sokoto State Governor-elect, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, former Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Tanzania, Amb. Sahabi Isah Gada, DG NTI, Prof Musa Garba Maitafsir and some members of both National and State Houses of Assembly, amongst others.
