Election: Tribunal fixes Saturday for Sokoto governorship judgement

The Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Sokoto has fixed Saturday September 30, 2023 for delivery of judgement on the state governorship election suit filed by the opposition PDP against the victory of APC’s Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.

The Secretary of the Tribunal, Mr Sunday Martins disclosed in a notice.

According to Martins, the judgement in the case marked EPT/SK/GOV/01/2023 will be delivered on Saturday at 9 am.

The Tribunal Secretary stressed ” Take notice that Petition No. EPT/SK/GOV/01/2023 will be coming up on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 9:am for judgement.

” Counsels are advised to inform their clients that supporters would not be allowed into the Court premises as movement would be highly restricted by the security agencies “, the notice said.

The Tribunal Chairman, Justice Haruna Mshelia had in August, reserved judgement on the Petition filed by the governorship candidate of PDP , Sa’idu Umar against governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto and his deputy, Muhammad Idris Gobir.

He told both parties that a date for the judgement would be communicated to them in September.
