Strike: Sokoto NLC, TUC , affiliate organs mobilised – Secretary , Yanduna

Count down to Tuesday’s date for the nation wide total and indefinite strike directive by the Nigerian Labour Congress, the Sokoto state branch has started mobilising members of other organs and affiliates.

This is in readiness to ensure total compliance according to Comrade Hamisu Yanduna, Secretary of the union in the state.

Comrade Yanduna who spoke to reporters in Sokoto said workers of public and organised private sectors including professional bodies have been fully mobilised to join the strike action.

He said ” we have started mobilising all our members for the strike action until our demands are met by the FG and to ensure compliance, our monitoring team will go round offices to observe events accordingly”, he stressed.

According him, the state leadership held a meeting with representatives of some banks to ensure total compliance on the Tuesday strike action .

” They assured of compliance once they receive a memo to that effect and confirmed that they would have no choice than to join”, he said.

Similarly, the state branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers said it was yet to receive a directive from its national headquarters on the strike.

” We are still expecting a directive from our national headquarters”, an official said under anonymity.

Though , added that ” we are set and as soon as we get a directive, we will join the strike.”
